Unico brushes have been designed to create the perfect brush.
The ergonomic handles on all the Unico Brushes are balanced with a patented medium-length grip that reduces strain on the joints of the hand thanks to its larger diameter. It is equipped with an anti-rolling system that stops the brush from rolling across the work surface.
The hair used for these brushes are synthetic and there are four ranges each with different hair designed for different qualities.
Mongoose Synthetic Fibre is characterised by great softness and absorbency along with a slow release of water. It is ideal for watercolours and painting techniques requiring reduced thicknesses and high degrees of dilution, such as diluted acrylic or oil in very light glazing. Wide at the base and thin at the tip, the mongoose fibre perfectly replaces softer animal hair. The pointed shape is ideal for both background application and very fine, extensive and well-defined details and lines. When pressure is applied, it creates a teardrop form. Much appreciated by watercolourists and illustrators and colour professionals.
Silver Synthetic Fibre is microperforated along the filament for high water absorbency and a gradual release. It is ideal for practically all painting techniques, from applying watercolour backgrounds, pasty acrylics, wall decorations on porous surfaces to oil painting. The pointed shape makes it suitable for dense painting techniques with a full and defined line.
Flamed Synthetic Fibre is very soft and slow-releasing for water, whilst being very absorbent and elastic. Ideal for watercolour painting, watercolour pastels, acrylic, tempera and diluted oils. The elasticity and lightness of the filament offers a particularly precise definition of the lines, without leaving strokes in the painting material. The brushstroke is soft and light, being much appreciated by watercolourists and illustrators, as well as by hyper-realist painters.
Off-White Synthetic Fibre is is highly resistant, rigid and offers good absorbency. Mainly used to replace the natural bristle, it offers the same characteristics of low elasticity and hardness. Ideal for oil painting, textured gels and pasty or thick colours. Recommended for painting techniques where dilution is not necessary, hence why they can be used on both rough and very absorbent surfaces, even walls.
