Stretched Linen Canvas - The Best Surface For Professional Artwork

Due to its longer fibres and distinctive weave, linen is the gold standard for professional painting surfaces. Its smooth surface can hold paint well over time without deterioration, making it a worthwhile investment if you want to sell or exhibit your work. Our natural linen canvases are:

Strong & Durable Linen's fibre strength makes it a stronger, more resilient choice compared to cotton. Your heavyweight linen canvas won't warp or turn brittle over time, ensuring your artwork's longevity.
Ready To Use Our stretched linen canvases are triple primed and pre-stretched over responsibly sourced wood, so you can spend less time prepping your surface and get straight to work. Once you’re done, you can hang your masterpiece as is without the need for framing.
Fit For A Variety Of Mediums Loxley linen canvases come in a wide range of sizes and depths, ready to become the home of your oil, acrylic, and even mixed media paintings. Use the chunky frame edge to create interesting visual effects, or buy non-stretched linen canvas rolls to create your own base.

Linen Canvas For Painting FAQs

Cotton vs. Linen canvas - which one is better?

Generally, the surface of a linen canvas will be more durable, holding the paint better than the surface of a cotton canvas. Linen also has more strength and is not as easily distorted under heavy paint as cotton. The added quality does come with a higher price tag attached to it, but most professional artists agree it is worth the investment.
