Refined Safflower oil is a pale, slow-drying oil that can be used to brighten and thin oil paints. It is a paler yellow than linseed oil and works well with whites and paler pigments keeping the colours bright when mixed with this oil.
The oil is made from Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) which is a highly branched, herbaceous, thistle-like annual plant in the family Asteraceae.
