The Beauty of Quinacridone pigment

The vibrant Quinacridone pigment remained hidden until 1955, although its actual compound was initially found in 1896. These pigments possess remarkable transparency, boldness in colour, and exceptional stability against various elements such as light, heat, and solvents. Abstract artists, in particular, have embraced Quinacridone colours for their intense and vibrant hues.

There are three Quinacridones in our Loxley Watercolour Range. They are Quinacridone Violet, Quinacridone Gold, Quinacridone Lilac.

Quinacridone Violet is a fantastic choice for creating stunning purples and deep blues when combined with Phthalo Green, Phthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue, and viridian. This remarkable pigment, PV19, possesses exceptional lightfastness, a semi-transparent nature, and an incredibly rich dark value.

Quinacridone Gold, a popular pigment among artists, shines brighter than the typical earth yellow pigments. Its addition to a painting creates a mesmerizing radiance that captivates the eye. However, this pigment offers a remarkable range of possibilities through its exceptional mixing abilities and glazing effects. Notably, it boasts an impressive level of transparency and durability, ensuring that your artwork stands the test of time.

Quinacridone Lilac, nestled between the vibrant hues of Magenta Rose and Quinacridone Violet, adds a touch of enchantment to the Loxley colour palette. With its remarkable intensity and crystal-clear vibrancy, this shade truly captivates the eye. Infused with a delicate hint of blue, our Quinacridone Lilac is a beloved choice for artists seeking to bring floral masterpieces to life.

Discover the magic of Quinacridone Rose, a captivating red-violet colour that exudes power and transparency. Its exceptional durability and vibrancy make it an excellent choice for a red palette, particularly when paired with a warmer red. Experiment with mixing Quinacridone Rose with Indanthrone Blue for a deep, rich purple or Quinacridone Sienna for a breath-taking sunset effect.
